Kia’s Great Unknowns Scholarship & Deserving Recipients

We believe that greatness comes from unexpected places. That’s why for last February’s Big Game ad, we didn’t write a check to a celebrity—we created The Great Unknowns Scholarship to help the next generation of students who give it everything.

Following through on the promise to help young people in need get a foothold in higher education, today Kia Motors America proudly recognizes the recipients of The Great Unknowns Scholarship. Comprised of 16 college students from across the U.S., the scholarship winners were chosen based on financial need, academic performance and the demonstrable ways they made a difference by giving it everything within their local schools and communities.

The Great Unknowns Scholarship was created to identify students who embody Kia’s “Give It Everything” spirit and help them pursue their academic goals. The call for entries was part of Kia’s 360-degree “Give It Everything” marketing campaign which began with the 2019 Super Bowl spot of the same name, created by Kia’s agency of record David&Goliath.

“Earlier this year, instead of using a high-priced celebrity in our Super Bowl ad, Kia chose to repurpose that money to discover and reward young Americans who embody our ‘Give It Everything’ philosophy,” said Michael Cole, president, Kia Motors America. “We are honored to help these talented and ambitious students further their education and we’re excited to see what their futures hold.”

Colleges and universities of recipients include Harvard University; University of Alabama, Huntsville; New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology; University of Texas, San Antonio; Duke University; and the University of Pennsylvania. Fittingly, fields of study range from economics and computer science to public policy, neuroscience and aerospace engineering.

A video introducing the students and how they “Give It Everything” can be found here and more information on The Great Unknowns Scholarship program and the application process can be found at www.thegreatunknowns.org

Applications will re-open early 2020, so continue to check back in with The Great Unknowns Scholarship program for updates!

2020 Kia Soul

From it’s toaster-shaped style to being paired with human-sized breakdancing hamsters, the Kia Soul is instantly recognizable. Because of this, the 2020 Kia Soul redesign was a careful evolution of such an iconic vehicle.

The 2020 Kia Soul maintains its funky style that it is so well known for. However, it features a new engine, fresh technology, and active safety features. On the exterior, the fender flares are now more pronounced and the tail lights are boomerang shaped. Some even liken the look of the backend to the helmet from a Star Wars Stormtrooper.

The new Soul lineup has a new sporty GT package that is sure to excite those looking for a little more oomph. It features a turbocharged engine, 18-inch wheels, new front and rear fascias, and leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob.

In addition to the new GT package, the 2020 Kia Soul is 2.2 inches longer and rides on 1.2 inches longer wheelbase. This increases the Soul’s cargo capacity by 5 cubic feet. The liftgate is also wider which allows for easier loading and unloading in the redesigned Soul.

The 2020 Kia Soul has a new base engine that is 2.0-liter inline-four giving it 147 horsepower and 132-lb-ft of torque. This can be paired with a standard six-speed manual transmission or the continually variable automatic (CVA) transmission from the Kia Forte. The turbocharged 1.6-liter inline-four engine features 201 horsepower and 195 lb-ft torque.

The redesigned 2020 Kia Soul is still affordable, starting at just $18,485 (Base LX Model). Want to take one for a spin? Schedule a test drive at Peak Kia North today!

2020 Kia Telluride

The all-new 2020 Kia Telluride started off as a bold concept car a few years ago. Since then, the design and styling haven’t deviated much, and the wait to get your hands on this new, luxurious family vehicle is almost over.

The 2020 Kia Telluride comes in larger than the Kia Sorento and can seat up to 8 people comfortably. Depending on the package, the second row of seating will feature captains chairs for ultimate comfortability. To top it all off, the third-row seating features reclining seats!

This new SUV in the Kia line-up differs from the other Kia models in that it has the silhouette of a truck. It looks rugged on the outside, but then you are welcomed with luxurious amenities on the inside. The base interior gives it the same feel as a Mercedes and only gets better as you upgrade it to the SX package.

The 2020 Kia Telluride comes standard with a front-wheel-drive-based unibody platform with optional all-wheel-drive. It is expected to have a starting MSRP of $31,690 with the LX package and a fully loaded SX package will top out just under $47,000.

Other optional driver assists will also be available including sensors in the back seats that can detect and notify the driver if children or pets are left in the vehicle. These features truly set it apart as the latest and greatest family SUV.

The 2020 Telluride is expected to go on sale in May of 2019. Explore the all-new 2020 Kia Telluride here and stay tuned for more information!

Peak Kia North 24-Hour Test Drives

Car buying is a process. It often starts with searching the internet for cars in a certain price range, looking at safety ratings or fuel efficiency, and can end in driving off the lot with buyers remorse. In between all of those things, you will take the car you eventually buy for a test drive. But what good does a half hour test drive do?

At most dealerships, your test drive experience might last anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes. You’ll take the vehicle around the block a few times, get on a highway to test the acceleration and braking, and maybe even find a curvy road to see how the vehicle handles. These normal test drive experiences only allow you to test a fraction of what is important when considering purchasing a vehicle.

As a car owner, what you really care about is how the vehicle fits with your day-to-day. Will it accommodate the whole family? Is the car practical for grocery shopping or hauling your kid’s sports equipment? Maybe you have elderly passengers frequently and they need to be able to get in and out of the car with ease. These are all things that you won’t be able to test in a half hour.

For these reasons, Peak Kia North is offering 24-Hour test drives. We want you to take your time to make the right car buying decision for your lifestyle. Buying a car is a huge financial commitment and it is important that you spend more time test driving the car than you do inside a dealership sales office.

At Peak Kia North, doing a 24-Hour test drive is easy. All you need to do is select any new in-stock Kia, schedule a test drive, bring a valid driver’s license (21+ years of age), bring proof of your current insurance, and leave your vehicle at Peak Kia North while you test drive. All we ask is that you bring the vehicle back within 24-Hours.

To schedule your 24-Hour test drive, visit the 24-Hour test drive page on our website and fill out the form. We hope to help ease the car buying process for you and eliminate any buyers remorse. If you have any questions, feel free to call our sales department at 970.576.3100.
